We specialise in training and assessment that is focussed on the competency criteria needed to do the job, designed to maximise effectiveness for adult learners.

Our Approach

The competency of staff involved in developing and operating rail and transportation systems is critical to success and safety. Training and assessment to well-defined competency criteria should ensure you have the right people for the job, and will help to gain consistency of outcomes.

At Acmena we are passionate about what we do and are happy to share our knowledge and experiences with others. We strive to maintain currency in our own disciplines and to help others develop or improve their own skills. Many Acmena consultants have been mentors to junior staff and have developed and delivered training programs over many years.

Sue Milner is a qualified professional development coach and holds a CERTIV in Training and Assessment. She uses the knowledge acquired to help us develop our training and competence services to a competency-based model, using adult learning best practice.

Competency-Based Training (CBT)

We have developed a number of courses to enable students/adult learners to gain specific skills to help them in their workplace. These include:

We can develop or modify training courses and modules to meet specific client needs.

We recognise that organisations may prefer to deliver training themselves. We also develop train-the-trainer programs, assess candidate trainers and ensure trainers have attained the level of competence required

Competency-Based Assessment (CBA)

  • We can assess competency against IET Competency Criteria for Safety-Related practitioners, including HF specialists and INCOSE UK Systems Engineering Competency Framework
  • We can develop a set of competency standards for your workplace and staff based on the VET (Vocational Education and Training) guidelines
