She offers demonstrated capability in human factors integration and assurance (HFIP, HFAR, HF Issues Registers) in addition to human-centred design and human-machine interface (HMI) usability evaluation. She also has experience in safety management, including HAZOP/HAZID, bowtie analysis and incident investigation.
Julia is currently providing human factors support on two major Queensland rail infrastructure projects: Cross River Rail – Tunnels, Stations and Development package and the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGCFR) project.
On Cross River Rail, Julia is responsible for integrating the human factors program into the design of Brisbane’s new underground stations and tunnels. Her work includes maintaining the Human Factors Integration Plan (HFIP) and Human Factors Assurance Report (HFAR), conducting HF design reviews across preliminary and detailed design packages, completing workload analysis, evaluating HMI usability, and supporting emergency evacuation processes through signage and wayfinding assessments.
On the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project, Julia is leading HF input across station upgrades, operational systems, alarms analysis, HMI design, and accessibility. She is also developing day-in-the-life-of (DITLO) workshops to identify and manage human error risks across emergency and non-emergency operational scenarios.
Julia also specialises in non-technical skills and human factors training, where she has delivered courses to a variety of stakeholders, including train drivers, airline crew, network control officers, maintenance workers, and senior management.
