Acmena was founded in 2012 by Sue Milner, Katherine Eastaughffe and Graeme Cutler. Each a respected authority in their individual fields, the three directors saw an opportunity to combine their decades of industry experience and expertise in safety assurance, human factors and engineering management to form a company that could offer clients a uniquely integrated systems engineering approach.

Acmena currently has a staff of over 30 with teams of specialists engaged with major infrastructure projects across the country. As an ISO 9001: 2015-certified company, we cater to clients from a wide variety of highly regulated industries, ranging from multi-national construction and infrastructure contractors and government agencies to rail operators and local start-up technology companies.
Graeme is an accomplished project and technical manager with over 28 years’ systems engineering experience, both internationally and in Australia, in the specification, design, development, delivery and commissioning of safety critical systems in the rail and other regulated industries.
Katherine is an authority on engineering safety management, with over 22 years’ international experience. A highly respected assurance engineer, Katherine specialises in rail signalling, particularly complex electronic signalling equipment such as computer-based interlocking, and train control systems.
Sue is a Chartered Engineer and a Certified Professional Ergonomist. She is a recognised expert in human-systems engineering with an extensive background in systems and software engineering, human-centred requirements, elicitation, design, implementation and evaluation techniques.
