Acmena Senior Human Factors Consultant, Dr Keryn Pauley, will be presenting her paper ‘Human Factors in Tunnel Design’ for the Australian Tunnelling Society Queensland on 12 August.

Held at the Engineers Australia Queensland branch in Brisbane and streamed online, the presentation will discuss the need to incorporate human factors processes into tunnel design. Topics will include the integration of human factors into the systems engineering process, the importance of the early identification of end-user requirements, and consideration of how the tunnel will be used and maintained during normal, degraded and emergency scenarios.

Keryn is a human factors professional with over 13 years’ experience in providing system design and evaluation, risk assessment and safety management support to the rail industry. She is currently the human factors lead for both the Tunnels, Stations and Development and Rail, Integration and Systems packages on Brisbane’s $5.4b Cross River Rail project.

The event starts at 5:30pm and is free to all Engineers Australia members. For more information, visit: https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/event/2021/06/human-factors-tunnel-design-37656
