George’s rail expertise is underpinned by a comprehensive understanding of the full V-lifecycle, from requirements definition and systems integration through to verification, validation and final customer acceptance. He brings particular strength in managing multi-discipline engineering teams across complex, interface-heavy environments in addition to developing the systems engineering processes and governance frameworks that allow large programs to maintain compliance and quality at scale.
George currently serves as Systems Engineering Manager for the Rail, Infrastructure and Systems package on Queensland’s Cross River Rail project where he is responsible for all SESA deliverables associated with surface and integration works. This includes ensuring that safety cases, risk assessments, and verification and validation reports are produced to the quality and schedule required to support end-user acceptance of changes to the railway. His technical scope on Cross River Rail spans rail operating systems, civil and roads infrastructure, fire engineering, buildings and services.
Before moving into rail, George spent nearly two decades in the Australian defence industry where he held a succession of senior engineering leadership roles on several military aircraft projects. As System Chief Engineer and Type Certification Manager, he was responsible for all technical matters relating to the aircraft and associated support systems, overseeing a workforce of approximately 120 engineering staff and chairing systems engineering milestone reviews.
