He offers demonstrated capability across the full systems engineering lifecycle — from requirements elicitation and decomposition through to verification and validation, safety case development and delivery — and brings a rigorous, standards-conscious approach to technically demanding project environments.

Lachlan’s systems engineering expertise spans requirements management (including IBM DOORS), change management, systems integration, specification development from contract level through to sub-system level, and the authoring and execution of formal test and verification procedures. He has led and supported V&V activities across multiple programs, working directly with clients and customers during formal test events, and has developed test management plans and verification strategies for complex multi-discipline systems. His understanding of the full V-model — grounded in ISO 15288 and INCOSE principles — gives him a structured, lifecycle-aware perspective that is equally applicable to rail and defence environments.

In safety assurance, Lachlan is proficient across a broad range of deliverables, including system safety program plans, hazard logs, hazard analysis reports, functional hazard analysis (FHA), operating and support hazard analysis (OSHA), environmental hazard analysis (EHA) and safety case reports — all developed in accordance with MIL-STD-882E and applicable standards. He has facilitated System Safety Working Groups (SSWGs), managed controls verification, and conducted detailed audits of safety deliverable suites to ensure completeness and quality prior to client delivery. He also has RAM experience, having contributed to reliability and maintainability studies and RAM budget development across complex sub-systems.

Lachlan is currently providing systems engineering and assurance support to the Cross River Rail – Rail, Systems and Integration package, where he is responsible for managing and updating the Northern Area safety case and risk assessment in addition to the mitigation of hazards to SFAIRP standards.
