Congratulations to Nicolas Teulier and Andrew Gabler who have both been selected to present at CORE2026.
Held in Adelaide between 17 – 19 August, the Conference on Railway Excellence is one of the most prestigious technical rail events in the Australian conference calendar, featuring presentations from some of the most highly respected rail professionals in the country.
In his paper: ‘Integration – When Simplicity is the Key to Managing Project Complexity’ Acmena Executive Director for Business Development, Nicolas Teulier, draws on his extensive project experience to illustrate how integration remains one of the most significant risks in rail projects and how the solution lies in a simpler, systems-thinking approach rather than more layers of governance and controls.
Titled, ‘What is a Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Useful For? And How do They Work?’ Andrew Gabler’s paper attempts to demystify SIL by exploring what it is, why they are used and how they can be allocated to railway systems. The paper also examines the common mistakes and misunderstandings found when applying SIL in the rail industry. As Systems and Safety Assurance Manager for the Cross River Rail – Tunnels, Stations and Development package, Andrew offers first-hand insight into allocating SIL and guiding the delivery of SIL-certified safety-critical systems.
Excited to be presenting at CORE for the first time, Nicolas said: “I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned on the various projects I’ve supported over the years and hearing how others approach it. There’s still a lot of uncertainty about what good systems integration looks like on Australian rail projects, and I think the solution is a lot simpler than most people would assume. Testing that idea with the people in the room is going to be exciting.”
Both papers reflect the depth of technical expertise and forward thinking we’re proud to see across our team. We look forward to seeing Nicolas and Andrew share their work with the wider rail community in Adelaide, and to the conversations it sparks. Congratulations to you both.
