Alan has proven capability in developing key safety assurance deliverables across all stages of the project lifecycle, including safety plans, safety cases, hazard logs, safety risk assessments and safety reports. He is experienced in conducting hazard identification and analysis workshops, performing operational and safety hazard analysis, and managing configuration changes. His work consistently ensures that project outputs meet client requirements and are aligned with relevant standards, including IEC 61508 and EN 50126.

In systems engineering, Alan has hands-on experience in requirements management, verification and validation, and the deployment of IBM DOORS and IBM DOORS Next — including the development of requirement verification traceability matrices and stage gate checklists for key project milestones. He has also supported network assurance committee submissions and contributed to systems integration and interface management activities on live construction projects.

Alan has been engaged across a range of major infrastructure projects in New South Wales and Queensland including Cross River Rail, Sydney Metro, Western Sydney Airport and the Transport Accessibility Program.

His project portfolio spans a diverse range of safety-critical rail systems, including Automatic Train Protection (ATP), Automatic Train Operation (ATO), Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) and European Train Control System (ETCS), as well as rail infrastructure covering LV and HV power, bridges, level crossings, drainage, structural elements, passenger information systems, lifts and escalators, and fire protection services.
